How to pack and load a container for safe transport

How a container is packed affects everything that follows, including the road journey. While packing is often done before a container reaches us, understanding the principles helps importers avoid problems on the move.

Distribute weight evenly

An unevenly loaded container is harder and less safe to transport, and can affect the vehicle carrying it. Spreading weight evenly, and keeping heavy items low, makes for a stable load on the road.

Secure the contents

Protect against the elements

Depending on the goods, protection from moisture and movement matters. For sensitive products, condition on arrival is part of a successful delivery.
