Preparing your site for a container or cargo delivery

A delivery is only as smooth as the site it arrives at. A little preparation at your end saves time, avoids waiting charges and keeps everyone safe. Here's what to think about before the truck arrives.

Access for the vehicle

Container haulage uses large vehicles that need room to enter, turn and position. Check the approach road, the gate width and any low obstructions or tight corners. If access is limited, tell us in advance so we can plan. It's one of the site notes we ask for when you request a quote.

Space to offload

Make sure there's a clear, firm area to offload and, for a container, room to work around it. Soft or uneven ground can make offloading difficult or unsafe.

Offloading equipment and labour

Consider how the cargo will come off the vehicle. Some loads need a forklift or crane and people ready to receive them; a container may be unpacked on site. Having equipment and labour arranged for the delivery window prevents costly waiting.

Timing and a point of contact

Agree a delivery window and give us a name and number for someone on site. That single contact makes the handover quick and avoids the vehicle waiting at a locked gate.

Empty return
